Today is officially the day! I have acquired the keys, and some paint, and we are off to the races!
Just about 2.5 more weeks until I’m able to start seeing patients in said space, but the excitement is building.
This decision has always loomed in the back of my mind, since I was in PT school. I even had a professor tell me that I should just start my own practice right after graduation. But imposter syndrome sure is a bugger.

Two years at a large corporate “mill” PT clinic reminded me where my heart was: in 1:1 care to allow for the time to help people be heard and to heal. This is also what I needed to pursue my growing interest in pelvic floor PT.
My previous company allowed me to grow in this way, while giving patients the care they needed. Being mentored in orthopedics, learning the ways of a solid pelvic health provider, and becoming more confident in myself and my practice quieted the imposter syndrome demon enough for me to go out on my own.
Though on paper this journey as an independent practitioner began when my LLC was formed, this has been a long time coming.

I am the sum of the people who I have been mentored and supported by all the way from my childhood up until now. This will not stop being the case as I progress in my career. But this feels like a time for reflection for me. I am thankful for my husband, parents, and in-laws who have always believed in me. My friends who have been supportive since the moment I started talking about this. My PT professors, Staffen Elgelid and Walter Jenkins, who I think of almost daily when I use the skills they taught me. My religious studies professor Susan Novak, who really taught me to pause and listen. Those who have formally mentored me in CEUs and in my clinics over the last few years. Every patient who has trusted me with their care at one time or another.
For each of you, I am eternally grateful.
Cheers to whereever this journey takes us!
